Hookify ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Hookify Chrome Extension and the website at usehookify.net. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
Hookify collects minimal data necessary to operate the service:
Anonymous identifier: We use your Google account ID (via the Chrome identity API) solely to track your free usage limit (5 conversions). This identifier is hashed and never linked to your name, email, or any personal information.
Device identifier: A randomly generated device ID stored locally in your browser to count free conversions per device.
IP address: Used temporarily for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored permanently.
Text you convert: The text you paste into Hookify is sent to our API server for processing. It is passed to OpenAI's API and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Your name, email address, or contact information
Your browsing history or web activity
Your location
Financial or payment information (payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy)
Any data from websites you visit (except Twitter/X text when you use the auto-fetch feature, which is only read on your request)
3. How We Use Information
To provide the AI text conversion service
To enforce the 5 free conversion limit
To validate licenses purchased through Lemon Squeezy
To prevent abuse and rate limiting
4. Third-Party Services
OpenAI: Your input text is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to data processed by their models.
Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing for license purchases. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Railway: Our API server is hosted on Railway. No user data is persisted on this server.
5. Data Retention
We do not persistently store your text or personal information on our servers. The anonymous usage counters (free conversion tracking) are stored in server memory and reset when the server restarts. License keys are validated in real-time against Lemon Squeezy's API.
6. Your Rights
Since we do not store personal data linked to your identity, there is no profile to delete or export. If you have questions about your data, contact us at the email below.
7. Children's Privacy
Hookify is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
